John Ross Mackay

With great sadness our family announces the peaceful passing of John (Jack) Ross MacKay on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Jack was 89 years old and predeceased by his devoted wife, Doris (Doe) Simone Mackay. Doting father to Wendy Ledgerwood (Ken), Bonnie Neish (Eddie), Sandra MacKay (Pat), and Danny Nerbonne (brother-in-law). Loving grandfather to Jacqueline (Tyler), James (Jess), Michael (Caitlin), Patrick (Catherine), David, and Chad. Adoring great-grandfather to Jadyn, Jordan, Paige, Paisley, Logan, Lucas, Laura, and James. Sadly missed by brother-in-law Danny and nieces Cheryl, Mandy and Chantal. MacKay had a long and storied history in the newspaper industry, retiring at 80 after 35 years at the Mississauga News, primarily as real estate manager. Friends are welcome at an Oakview Funeral Home service (56 Lakeshore West, Oakville) Monday, May 29, at 2:30 p.m. A celebration of Life will follow at the Bronte Legion (79 Jones St., Oakville) at 4:30 p.m.
