In Loving Memory
Peter made the world a better place, bringing so much positive energy, love, hope and incredible resilience into our lives. Peter taught so many important lessons:
* the value of family and taking care of one another;
* how to stay optimistic in the face of extreme adversity; and
* so much more
Peter exuded happiness. He brought incredible joy and laughter into everyone's lives. The room was lighter and brighter thanks to Peter's humour. Peter was always the strongest, toughest individual. He bravely won years of battles forced upon him by multiple myeloma, refusing to allow this illness to impact his love of life and family. Peter adored his girls, Sarah and Megan, beaming with pride over their many achievements. Seeing his girls grow up to become capable, strong, confident women was Peter's main goal for life and his inspiration for battle. No father was closer, more supportive or as engaged in their daughters' lives. Sarah and Megan know how deeply they have been loved and will forever miss their Dad, hero, and best friend. Upon his passing, Peter was surrounded by love. His wife, Gail, daughters Sarah and Megan, and his siblings were closely by his side. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Gail (Halladay), his daughters, Sarah and Megan, and his husky, Kai, his siblings, Eric (Tanya), Laurie (Gord) and Erin (Steve), and numerous nephews (Matthew, Travis, Kevin, Callum, Brendan, and Ben), and nieces (Emma, Lyrisa and Ava), Peter was predeceased by his parents (Joan and Jim), stepfather (Douglas), and mother-in law (Patricia). Peter is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law (Sean and Kim, Anne and Rob, Christine and Bob, Steven, and Colleen). Peter graduated from York University with degrees in Political Science and Commerce. He held a range of marketing and consulting positions (PGN Consulting, IAPA-WSIB, Domtar, Faber- Castell, Cooper Canada, Dennison Manufacturing). An exceptional gardener, Peter took great joy in the beautiful orchids and other plants with which he filled the house and garden. He was also a skilled musician, drumming in various bands over the years. Most recently Peter played with close friends in the band Imaginary Heroes finding great joy through music and close friendships. Peter was a great athlete and enjoyed playing, watching, and volunteering in various sports, including hockey, tennis, soccer and cycling. He became a huge fan, coach, and proud supporter of his daughters' soccer careers as he followed them closely into university. Nobody was a bigger supporter than Peter - driving thousands of kilometers and sacrificing much of his time to cheer on his girls. Peter and the family received incredible care and support throughout his illness. Special thank you's go to Dr. Kouroukis, Dr. Patel and Dr. MacDougall, nurses (Amy and Sierra, in particular) and staff at Juravinski, Oakville Trafalgar and Trillium Hospitals, for their superb efforts to provide comfort and care to Peter at all stages of his illness. Special thanks as well to family members, friends and neighbours for their ongoing care and support. A Celebration of Life in Peter's honour will be held in late spring/early summer. For those who wish, donations can be made to Myeloma Canada, Juravinski Cancer Centre or Oakville Hospital Foundation.
