February 15, 1935 - May 3, 2022
Reginald Malcom Harris was born on February 15, 1935 in Toronto, Ontario to Sydney Harris of Dundee, Scotland and Harriet Cox of Birmingham, England. He was the fifth child and baby of the family. He is predeceased by his brothers Bill and Albert and his sisters Hilda Cox and Gertrude Thompson. His loving wife of 33 years, Rose Mary (nee Leiper), passed away on October 9, 1995. He is survived by his daughters, Liz Lamarre (Paul) and Kathryn Sullivan (Tom) and grandchildren Chris, Dylan, Ben, Patrick, Jordan, Spencer, Cameron and Sarah-Rose. Reg's first love was art and he attended the Ontario College of Art in his twenties. Eventually, he settled on the teaching profession, graduating from teacher's college at Western University in 1972. He taught at Georgetown District High School from 1972 to 1996. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed all expressions of art including drama, music and literature. Reg was supportive of his grandchildren's interests and attended many running and ski races, and soccer, hockey, baseball and lacrosse games. He bought the best seats in the house to watch plays and music recitals his grandchildren were in. He was thrilled to share his love of the guitar with many of his grandchildren and sometimes played along with them. Reg was a kind neighbour, a caring friend and a loving father and grandfather. The hole he leaves in this family is great and his absence will be difficult to overcome. Let every act of kindness and good deed be a gentle reminder of the love he shared with his family and friends. Visitation will be held at the McKersie-Kocher Funeral Home, 114 Main Street East, Milton (905) 878-4452 on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Donations in honor of Reg can be made to the Ian Anderson House Hospice.
