Roy Jones passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on March 5, 2022. A man focused on family, the devoted husband of Jeanne (nee Dawson), his partner in marriage and mischief for 63 loving years and the proud father of two adoring daughters, Tracy (Bob Bernier) and Kaz (Phil Johnston). Roy's 5 grandchildren, Gabrielle, Benjamin, Anny, Maksym and Jack, never told a story that he didn't want to hear. They were his greatest pride and joy and his favourite entertainment - he never missed a game, performance or achievement.
Born to a family of 13 children, Roy moved to Canada over 50 years ago from England. In addition to travelling to glamorous locales across the globe with Jeanne, Roy had a long career in the oil industry and trained as a firefighter. Roy was a founding member of the White Heather Club, an avid golfer, soccer and softball player and a life-long Man City supporter who lived to bask in the glory of the 2012 Premier League title.
A part-time pantomime player, an undisputed champion of family darts tournaments and a builder of treehouses, Roy loved his family with all his heart as they treasured him with all of theirs. A strong and quiet man of few words with an inexhaustible heart of gold.
Thank you to Dr Annis, Dr Slinger, the Mississauga Halton LHIN and the awe-inspiring staff at Post Inn Village, for their great care and support. A celebration of Roy's life will be held for family in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations to Patty's Place - Dementia Care Centre would be appreciated by Roy and his family.
