Ted GALE Obituary

Ted Gale passed away peacefully at Burloak Revera long-term care home in Burlington on Sunday, October 16th 2022 at the age of 80. Ted was born in Toronto and throughout his life lived in Toronto, Montreal, Bermuda, Sarnia, Burlington and for the longest period, in Oakville. He worked as an insurance agent for Allstate for over 30 years. Ted was a people-person who sought out connections with everyone he encountered, whether professionally, in political spaces or more locally, over coffee at Tim Horton's. He could enter any room, even in the most difficult of circumstances with empathy, good humor and warmth. Ted will be remembered for his love and enjoyment of life and his care, consideration and kindness to family, friends, neighbors and strangers. He loved cooking and eating good food from homemade pierogis and tiramisu to pan-fried tilapia, bolognese sauce and an incomparable secret steak marinade. He laughed, danced and had fun throughout his life and enriched the lives of those who knew him. Ted is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Sheila Ann Gale of Burlington and his stepchildren: Rhiannon Pyburn and her partner Pieter of Amsterdam and Gareth Pyburn and his wife Ligaya of Hong Kong. Ted cherished his family: sister Wendy, neice Laura and nephew Michael Dingillo; nephew David Marechal; nephew Glen Marechal and his wife Barbara and great-nieces April-Anne and Hannah-Rose; cousin Linda and her husband Claude; cousin Archie and his wife Nadine and their family; and cousin Rosie and family. He is predeceased by his much-loved sister Joyce and brother-in-law John Marechal of Pickering. We all miss him dearly. We raise a glass to you, dear Ted, Na Zdrowie! Special thanks to Burloak Revera Long term care home and Joseph Brant hospital for their compassion and care in his last days. Ted's funeral will be on Friday, October 21st at 3 p.m. at St. Jude's church, 180 William Street, Oakville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Patty's Place (Jim's Suites) a deeply compassionate and much needed Dementia Care Center in Oakville.
