Terry Mannell Obituary

Passed away peacefully, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, at the age of 80. Predeceased in 2015 by his wife Judy of 55 years. Father of Steven (Laureen), David (Gina), and Jim. "Grampa" to Lucas, Phoebe, Katie, Danielle, Alexandra, and Lauren. Survived by his sisters Gail Nichols (John), Sharon, and Margo Karolyi (John), and by his baby brother Bob (Diane). His many nieces and nephews remember "Uncle Charlie" as head of the family fun committee, wearing his Cowboy Dan costume and singing all the verses to "There's a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea."
Terry was active in the contract furniture industry, leading Ambiant Systems in the 1970s, followed by Group Four Furniture, a family collaboration with Judy, David, and Jim. Terry was a life-long resident of Oakville, serving on Oakville and Halton Council as Deputy Reeve, Reeve, and Regional Councillor, including one term on alongside his father, Laurie. Terry was a champion of public landscape, right-sized transit, and progressive waste management and recycling. He enjoyed hot rods, model trains, and photography.
In keeping with his wishes, Terry's body was donated to the University of Toronto Anatomy School. The family appreciates all those who supported Terry's care at home and in hospital. Please consider a donation in Terry's name to your favourite charity.

Terry was well loved and will be greatly missed by so many.

Uncle Charlie was definitely head of the family fun committee! All us nieces and nephews (and even our children) have so many wonderful memories of him to look back on. From pool parties, car shows and camping, he sure new how to engage us kids in fun and frivolity. And he always had the coolest attics to play in! I still don´t know how he had the stamina or memory to sing all the verses to "There's a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea.".

Much love to Steve, Dave and Jim and your families.
