Beverly Bard Obituary

Beverly Ann Bard, age 65, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 23rd in Carleton Place after a brief illness. Life partner, sister, mother, grandmother and friend, Beverly will be greatly missed. Beverly was born on February 16, 1957 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up in Pine Falls. She moved to Lanark County in the early 1980s and worked at the Canadian Library Association until she retired in 2014. Beverly loved her home, her community and her family and spent as much time outdoors as possible. Strong and spirited, Beverly lived life with enthusiasm and was candid and loyal. Beverly is survived by her partner Jody, her sons Matthew and Jessie, her daughter-in-law Heather, her grandchildren Briar and Corbyn, her sisters Myrna, Bonnie and Karen and her brothers Gary, Douglas and Ronald. She is predeceased by Stephen Young, father of her sons, her sister Diane, her nephew Stevie, her mother Irene (née Nore) and her father Kenneth. Beverly enjoyed much in her lifetime and especially loved dragonflies and Earl Grey tea. We will remember our dear friend when we savour a moment with a cup of tea, the dance of a dragonfly or look up to the stars and contemplate divinity. Rest in peace Beverly. We hope to hold a Celebration of Life at a future date.

I´m so sorry to have missed the news of Bev´s passing. We were friends when we were children...sharing sleepovers at each others homes. At her home,we shared a lick on a "salt-lick" on the stairs and hid under the covers during a scary thunderstorm that lit up her upstairs bedroom... at my place we shared a cozy sleep in my parents´ hide a bed ! Fun times....I only wish we´d have stayed in touch. My condolences to her family on the sad loss of Bev....and now recently in the sad loss of Gary

I worked with Bev at the Canadian Library Association. She and I would chat at my desk all the time. She gave me plants for my garden and was always so good to me. The last time I saw her was at my husband's funeral in 2015. We would message each other on Facebook to catch up after leaving CLA. I'm sad to find this out, as I had no idea and just found out now, months later. Only because I had a nagging feeling to check her FB page because I hadn't heard anything from her. Miss you. Rest in Peace Beverly!

Bev and I worked together at CLA for many years and remained Facebook friends ever after. Her strength of spirit was an inspiration. My sympathies to all who loved her.

Bev, I'm thinking of you + how we never got to have that post-COVID in-person catch up over tea where you tell me how to fix my garden! It was a privilege to work with you at the library association, and to keep in touch online through my career shifts/meandering path out west + back. Such a loving, kind + authentic spirit, I always think of you when I see a dragonfly in reality or in design/art, when I cook things from recipes you shared. My heartfelt condolences to Jody + your family for this immense loss. xo

I shared an office with Bev at the Canadian Library Association, sharing many laughs and serious discussion. We kept in touch after we both left and met for lunch annually. She was happy with her life with Jody, so proud of her sons and thrilled with her grandchildren. She was a very special person I am honoured to have called a friend. She will be missed.
