Blanche DEZELL Obituary

With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother into the loving arms of God on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Cherished wife of the late Ross Dezell. Loving mother of Zenda Deazeley (John), Dianne Nel and Colleen Walker (Roy, deceased). She will be fondly remembered by her six grandchildren, Mark Deazeley (Katie), Derek Deazeley, Bronwyn Gilchrist (Brandon), Nikki Nel, Ryan Walker (Mignon), Shelley McCallum (Trevor) and her great-grandchildren, Ross, Heather, & Sarah Walker, Joshua & Matthew McCallum and Charlie & Sloane Gilchrist. Also survived by sisters May East and Irene Baldock. Predeceased by her parents William Thomas James and Florence Belford and her brothers Russell, Mack and Robert James. With thanks to Dr. Buckley and the Carleton Place Terrace for their special care. Blanche grew up on a farm near Appleton and moved to Scotch Corners after her marriage where she lived until fairly recent years. Blanche is still remembered by many students she taught during her long teaching career in Carleton Place. Due to Covid a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Family and friends may join the family on line for the service being livestreamed on YouTube on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. (search YouTube for "BarkerFH Blanche Dezell"). For those who wish, donations to the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by her family. Arrangements entrusted to the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, Carleton Place.

My Aunt Blanche - full of energy, smart as a whip and with a great sense of humour. She was very fond of her nieces and nephews and didn't mind us running up to her attic, getting into trunks, playing dress up, etc. She was easy to prompt into telling a story from the past. One day a bull didn't like her hanging clothes on the clothesline. Later when she was riding her horse in the field, the bull charged after them. Uncle Ross made sure that bull was gone within hours. My head is full of cherished memories and many stories. Aunt Blanche, Aunt Irene and my Mom were special sisters - beautiful inside and out. I will miss Aunt Blanche very much.
