Edith Gagnon Obituary

1927 - 2021 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Edith Gagnon, dear wife of the late Elmer Gagnon (66 years married). Edith went to heaven on February 2, 2021 surrounded by family at the Carleton Place Hospital. Edith was born December 3, 1927 in Iroquois Falls. She moved to Smooth Rocks Falls at a young age where she attended Smooth Rock Falls Public and High Schools. She temporarily moved to Renfrew with her grandparents to attend grade 13 before returning back home. Edith married Elmer in 1949 upon his return from the war. They remained in Smooth Rock until moving to Carleton Place in 1985 to be closer to family in their retirement years. Edith was the loved and respected mother of seven children; Lynn McLean (Alex), Gordon (Janet), Sandra (the late Ron Cole), James (Ginette), Robert (Laura) and predeceased by her son Paul and her daughter Christine. Edith will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Renee Scott (Darren), Carole Kimmett (Nathan), Ross McLean, Scott McLean (Maija), Craig McLean, Christine McLean (Shawn), Tsya Gagnon and eight great-grandchildren. Edith was also predeceased by her sister Marion, her brother Gordon Lebarron and sister-in-law Beth Lebarron. Edith and her family would like to thank the staff at Waterside Retirement Residence and the nurses at the Carleton Place hospital for their professional and loving care. A special thank you as well to Doctor Drake mom's long-time admired doctor. At Edith's request, there will be a private family celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, Carleton Place. www.barkerfh.com
