Joseph Lorente Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Husband and Dad at the age of 92. David passed away on Saturday, January 2nd at the Perley Rideau Veteran's Home. Beloved husband of Kay Gollinger. Predeceased by his wife Dina Watt. Dear Dad of the late David (Judith), Dan (JoAnne), Jane (John), Don (Fei Min), Doug and Desmond (Jacquelyn). Dear grandpa of Adam, Anthony, Calli, Jonathan, Christopher, Samantha, Keita, Kirin, Breyan (Sarah), Caitlin (Thomas), Hannah and Grace. Predeceased by his two granddaughters Deanna and Jenna. David will be fondly remembered by his sister Joan (late Dr. Rod Irving). Predeceased by his brother Gerald (late Marie) and Arthur. David was a teacher for many years. He taught at St. Pat's College in Ottawa and then he moved to Renfrew where he was a teacher at the Renfrew Collegiate Institute for over 30 years. He was also the Founder of Home Children Canada. A private visitation and service will be held at the Goulet Funeral Home, 310 Argyle St S, Renfrew. Donations in his memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. A special thank you to David Lorente for his excellent research for the George's Home - now Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church - 1898-1934 St-George's home housed between 10-11 thousand British Home Children. Children coming form England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales to the number of 100,000 where housed in Canada. National British Home Child day September 28, 2019. A note of thanks also goes to John Sayers for his many years of research for the British Home Children. Two virtual announced Masses at Holy Rosary church on January 24th and January 30th at 10 am.
