It is with heavy hearts we say farewell to Mike. He was a fun-loving and kind soul that had the gift for music and the gab. Born in London, Ontario on October 4, 1933, and died January 20, 2021, at the age of 87. He was a loving husband of 60 years to "Betty" Mildred Elizabeth Connolly (nee Robertson), who predeceased him 3 years earlier. A caring father to his only daughter Karen Elizabeth Connolly, and son-in-law Patrick McGuinness. Beloved grandfather to Derry and Michael McGuinness. He cherished his siblings: David Connolly (Mary), Trisha Taylor (Connolly) and John Connolly (pre-deceased) of London, Ontario. Mike had a can-do attitude and sought out adventures. His early career was in the Canadian Airforce, later working for Spartan Air Service. Mike was also an entrepreneur in Ottawa specializing in electronics. Betty and Mike retired in Carleton Place, where he enjoyed spending time with his in-laws and friends from the Legion. There was rarely a family occasion or gathering of friends that would pass that he would not bring his guitar out and sing a few classics (mostly country but also folk and blues). He loved bringing a smile to peoples' faces by telling stories and jokes (sometimes ones that had been told a few times before). Mike was a caring and compassionate person with a zest for life. Mike will be missed by family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Den Ivanovich and the Carleton Place Hospital as well as the Perley and Rideau Veterans Home. Due to the pandemic, a service and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In memoriam donations may be made to the OrKidstra. Sharing of memories and condolences at
