Sharon CHATBURN Obituary
Owner of Glass and Class for 22 years, co-coordinator of the Smiths Falls Bridal Show for 25 years, former 'den mother' at Victoria House Adult Support Home
After a long and courageous battle with COPD and cancer, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Sharon Chatburn, on Sunday March 26, 2023. Sharon left us with the same bravery, grace, and determination she embodied throughout her life; gently, peacefully and on her terms.
Born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on July 14, 1945, Sharon was the only child of the late William Arthur Milton Smith and Gertrude Antoinette Smith (née Dolan) of Ottawa, Ontario. Sharon will be dearly missed by her husband, Robert Harold Chatburn, her children Crislee Dignard, (late William); Jonathon Chatburn (Kerry) Kimberlee Chatburn (Stacey Cassell); by her grandchildren Gabriel Dignard (Jayme Leary), Liam Dignard (Alyson Powers), Carlie Cassell (Matthew Thubron), Robert Chatburn, Evelyn Chatburn and her great grandson Raiyden Cassell; her sisters-in-law Suzanne Wright (Jack) and Dawn Gordon (David) to whom she was like a second mother, her cousin Susan Hyde (Douglas) as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Sharon will be best remembered for her devotion to her family and career, her genuine care and compassion for others, and most of all, her kindness. She was forever willing to lend a hand, or her ear to listen, share a laugh or offer a shoulder to cry on. It was these attributes that helped Sharon build lasting friendships with her loyal customers at Glass & Class, through her work with the Smiths Falls Bridal Show, and with the residents she cared for at Victoria House. Sharon cared deeply for her community, and loved having a place that her family could put down roots and call our "hometown". She was an ardent supporter of local businesses and charities and enjoyed celebrating their successes and growth as much as her own.
In this spirit, we would like to invite you to share in Sharon's Celebration of Life which will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Smiths Falls Legion Branch 95, 7 Main St. E., Smiths Falls ON. Private interment will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Perth and Smiths Falls Hospital Foundation would be gratefully appreciated.
