On June 5, 2009 our beloved mother Agnes (Una) Brown Chretien passed away peacefully at the age of 70 years from a very rare and incurable blood disease at St. Paul?s Hospital in Vancouver with her husband at her side. She is survived by her loving husband Lionel (Nel), her only daughter Andree Friesen (Thane) and 3 sons Jacques Chretien, Jamie Chretien (Cathy) and Jean-Paul (JP) Chretien all of Kamloops. She also leaves to cherish her memory 8 grandchildren, Deja, Jelise, Cade, Hannah, Hailey, Dustin Amanda and Joshua, 1 brother Allistair Morrison of Scotland and close cousins Garth and Barbara Carr of Kamloops.
Una was predeceased by her father Robert Morrison, mother Phyllis Morrison, uncle William Gordon and sister Ann Campbell all of Scotland.
Una was born May 12, 1939 in Fauldhouse, West Lothian, Scotland to Phyllis and Robert Morrison. She was the first born and a loving big sister to Ann and Allistair. Una was a very pretty pig tailed red head who excelled in sports, Scottish Highland dancing, ballet and tap. Mom loved to cycle and became a member of the cycling club. Trips included cycling from the bottom of England to the top of Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Mom also cycled 50 miles each day to work in Edinburgh. She went on to become an extremely talented paralegal and was employed by highly respected law firms in Edinburgh and later Vancouver, B.C. In 1959, Una and two girlfriends travelled to Canada in search of sunshine and a new life. She met Dad in Peterborough, Ontario and later followed him to Vancouver. Una and Lionel were married on May19th, 1962 in Vancouver. After living in Vancouver and Victoria, they settled in Kamloops in 1966 and raised their four children. Through the years, Mom was involved as a Hospice member and with the Catholic Church community. She loved to play her guitar and sing with friends for the elderly. One of her greatest joys was to have all her family for many dinners at her beautiful heritage home. A very proud and loving Grandma, she never missed a chance to watch her four granddaughters dance and perform at the Sagebrush Theatre. Mom continued working as a self-employed, successful business woman until her last days. Mom?s caring, giving, loving, kind and gentle spirit will be truly missed.
Rest in the arms of Jesus.
Forever in our hearts, we love you Mom
