Elizabeth Cunningham "Bette" Hicks

Elizabeth Cunningham "Bette" Hicks obituary

Elizabeth Hicks Obituary

Grams, Gramzee, Gramzee Bear, Bette, Betts, Elizabeth, Hubbard, Her Majesty (as Gramps used to say) lived the majority of her 101 years in Kamloops, BC, though she was always a Maritime girl at heart.

Bette enjoyed many years in her beloved 111 Clarke Street and out at Fraser Bay on Shuswap Lake. After Don passed; Berwick was her home on the hill followed by Ridgeview Lodge. Always dressed to the nines, she loved walking the block with Hunter, and enunciating while exclaiming over all manner of miracle. With a cheeky sense of humour, a surprising way with words and a presence that shall be missed, Gramzee leaves behind a mountain of friends and admirers who truly love her, and always will.

A service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Kamloops United Church where we can celebrate her love of trees and clouds, pastries and people, and all shades of pink.

Love you to the moon and back again, and forever.

to all the family of Betty Hicks, I just found out so sadly so late from Bob Smiley, Betty had passed. In the five years I worked with the Don, I come to know Bette so well. Bette always had a Smile, Something positive and friendly to say. I know when the grandchildren came along, she was so delighted she said she had no idea it would be this wonderful. Over the years I seen Bette many many times walking downtown I was so happy to see her and so impressed with her ability to walk so far, and yes always dress like the Queen. I know Betty was very special to family and everyone who knew her she was very loved

I knew Mrs Hicks when I stayed at their home transitioning from living in Banff to traveling in a 1964 Rambler with Laura. I do remember she was aghast at our choice of clothing and threw out a well worn, well loved shirt of mine that she considered a rag. I also recall a lot of candy in her cupboards. 101 years of living is extraordinary.

To the entire Hicks family, Rob and I on behalf of the Heron family, ESPECIALLY our mother Myrtle who was a VERY dear friend would like to extend our sincerest condolences.

Whereas Don would make us 4 boys cry, it was Bette that brought tears of laughter to Myrtle, Peter and us 4 kids.
ALWAYS cheerful, effusive and kind (a true Maritimer) Bette was a special lady - a special friend.
Myrt and Bette will be having a laugh together.
Fond regards from us to you.
