TERRY

June 11, 1923 ~ December 29, 2010

Evelyn ?Blondie? Norma Terry passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Kamloops Seniors Village, with family by her side, after a long struggle with Alzheimer?s disease.

Blondie is survived by sisters Florence (Les) Miller and Marion Wiese, children Ryvonne (Greg) Fenrick, Warren (Darlene) Terry, and Tanda (Bradley) Wynn, and grandchildren Dallas (Laura), Desiray (Wesley), Tyson (Erin), Tannis, Denver and Rachel, and sister-in-law Lena Shep.

She was predeceased by parents Adolph and Emma Shep, husband Kenneth Terry, brother Leslie Shep, and sister Norma Shep.

Blondie was born the oldest of five children on June 11, 1923 in Spruce Grove, Alberta. She was a very intelligent woman who attended college and began her career as a bookkeeper. During WWII she met and married her husband of 55 years, Kenneth Benjamin Terry. In 1950 they fell in love with Kamloops while Ken played for the Kamloops Elks hockey team, and so they chose to raise their family here. Blondie and Ken owned the first pool hall on Tranquille before owning the local Dairy Queen.

In her younger years she loved to curl, was the Commissioner for the Girl Guides and then a long time member of the Trefoil Guild. After Ken retired they spent their summers in the Trailer on Tunkwa Lake where she enjoyed fishing and watching her beloved birds. Blondie had a beautiful singing voice and was a member of the St. George?s Church Choir and the Happy Chorister?s Choir for numerous years. She also spent a great deal of time knitting baby clothes for the Hospital Auxiliary and always had a fondness for, ?Little Ones.?

Blondie will be remembered as a kind hearted, compassionate woman who showed outstanding strength and dignity in her last years. She will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

?Be like the bird in flight?pausing a while on boughs too slight,

feels them give way beneath her, yet sings knowing yet, that she has wings.?

Special thanks to Dr. Burris, High Country Health Care, and the entire staff at the Kamloops Seniors Village.

Viewing will take place from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2010 in the Rosewood Room at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive.

A Celebration of Blondie?s life will take at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in St. George?s Anglican Church, 308 Royal Ave., with Reverend Isabel Healy-Morrow officiating. Following the service, Blondie will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Blondie?s honour to the Alzheimer Society of BC, 300 - 828 West 8th Ave. Vancouver, B.C. V5Z 1E2.
