CHASE
On April 14th, 2007, James (Jim) Frederick Chase?s battle with cancer came to a peaceful end.
Born on May 20, 1948 in Toronto Ontario, Jim?s family moved to BC in 1967.
He was predeceased by his father, James Frederick Chase, and is survived by his loving wife Wendy and three children James (Dina), Kari, Stuart (Kate), and his granddaughter, Aria. He is also survived by his mother, Beatrice, his five siblings John (Sandy), Cordon (Catholine), Beverley (Patrick), Richard, and Brenda.
Jim and Wendy made Kamloops their home after marrying on June 2nd, 1973; later raising their three children in Barnhartvale. Jim lived a simple, but rich life. He began his working life as a young teenager in Ontario and spent most of his career in the food service industry. Jim took a great deal of pride in his work, but was most proud of his family life, and took joy in his activities of choice. At home he loved reading, watching hockey or science fiction shows, and weeding his vegetable garden (?nothing like carrots, fresh from the garden!?). He loved playing softball, curling, bowling, and was one of the founding executive members and race officials of the Kamloops Canoe and Kayak Club.
One of his main goals in life was to invest time and love in his family. As his children grew, he grew along with them as an ever present coach, Scouts Canada leader, cheerleader and early morning ?team taxi? driver. Later, Jim and Wendy passed the summers exploring BC in ?The Castle?, often at Kamloops area lakes. A recent trip to Mexico together became the place that Jim and Wendy traveled back to in memory to help him through the last few days. Jim passed away surrounded by the family that he was so proud of, and that has been so proud of him. Jim will be deeply missed by not only his family, but also by so many of his friends in the community, whose lives he touched through his years in Kamloops.
Jim?s family would like to thank all of his doctors and nurses at the Royal Inland Hospital cancer ward for the care they?ve given him during his battle, and to the Kamloops Hospice Association for easing his last hours.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the RIH Campaign for Cancer Care, 311 Columbia St, Kamloops BC, V2C 2TI,
