James Denison Obituary

James Leonard Denison of Kamloops, BC passed away October 30th, 2016 at 79 years of age.

Jim was born in North Star, Alberta. The 6th of 7 children, born to Thomas and Cecelia Denison. Jim spent much of his youth in Mexico along with his parents.

He is survived by his children Linda Churchill (Ray Price), Leanne Denison (Harry Cummins), Mark Denison (Lorraine Turcott) , grandchildren Leah (Scott) Ludwig, Danielle Churchill, Jason Churchill, Ryan Atzenberger and Michelle Atzenberger, great-grandchildren Kyler, Alyssa, Raven, Natasha, Seth, Michaela, and Matison, brothers & sisters Vern Denison, Joe Denison, Charlie (Alma) Denison and sister-in-law Shirley Denison, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and Ex-wife Susan Denison.

He is predeceased by his sister Marie, sister Mae, brother- in-law Earl Herbison, brother Frank Denison, sisters-in-law Margaret Denison and Rita Denison, nephews Dennis (Denny) Herbison and Gordon Herbison.

Jim worked for the City of Kamloops in the late 60's and 70's. He was in charge of the greenhouse and helped develop Riverside Park, plus many garden sites around the town of Kamloops. Jim left the city and went to the School Board and was head of the grounds maintenance. He developed many of the school fields and play grounds. Jim also had his own landscaping company and operated the only little and big tree movers in Kamloops. He was a very talented and gifted horticulturist.

Once Jim retired he moved to Mayne Island. There he had a little yard maintenance business that he worked at. Jim eventually went to Mexico and spent a lot of time down there. He thought of Mexico as his second home. He traveled between Mexico, B.C., and Alberta visiting with family and friends.

Jim will be forever loved and missed by his children, grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Jim's memory will be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring, a date and time will be posted.
