LEON BLAKE WILSON
1929 ~ 2011
Leon Blake Wilson of Kamloops passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 82 years of age. His memory will be treasured by his loving wife Florence ?Flo? Wilson, children Rob (Val) Wilson of Kamloops, Lorne (Penny) Wilson of Williams Lake, Lance Wilson of Surrey, Laura (Bill) Dick of Coquitlam, Clair (Terri) Baker of Kamloops, Sharon Keane of Armstrong and Gordon (Cindy) Baker of Maple Ridge; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, brother Noel Walker, sister Diane Sawyer, and son in-law Keith Shultz
He was predeceased by his daughter Laura Marie and his parents, Adele Walker and Phil Wilson.
Leon was born in Vancouver on February 3, 1929. He was an electrician for 50 plus years with the IBEW and was known as Leon ?The Whip? Wilson. He had also been a member of the Kamloops Yacht Club. He moved to the Kamloops area in the mid-sixties, met his wife Florence in 1971 and they were married on November 24, 1973. They built a beautiful home together in Barnhartvale where they resided together for 37 years. Leon loved to camp, hunt, fly fish, fly tie and garden. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who cherished family times spent together.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal service. Leon will be cremated and the family will have a Private Ceremony.
The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Royal Inland Hospital, especially his nurse Karen, for everything that they did to make Leon ?Papa? comfortable near the end. Also a special thanks to all of his Doctors whose care he was under, Dr. Cattaneo, Dr. Prasad, and Dr. Azad.
