Margaret Fraser Obituary

April 10, 1933 - March 8, 2019

Lorraine Fraser (née Buchanan) passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Menno Hospital in Abbotsford. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by family and friends.

We say good-bye to our beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie and friend. Lorraine was born in Vancouver, BC in 1933 at her parent's home. She grew up and attended school in Smithers, BC. She married Lorne Colin Fraser on
June 28, 1954 in Smithers. Following their marriage, Lorne's job at the CNR took the couple to Saskatoon for four years and then in 1960 they settled in Kamloops to raise their family.

Predeceased by husband Lorne in 1980 and greatly missed by her children: sons Ron (Laura), Colin (Carel), daughter Leigh (Hank) and son Bob (Jan), her eight grandchildren Kristopher, Alyssa, Amy, Tayla, Kyle, Aubrie, Braeden and Morgan and her five great-grandchildren Calla, Makennia, Charlie, Zayden and Finley. She will also be missed by her sister Josphine (George) and her brother Arthur (Marge) and other family members.

Lorraine will be remembered as a hard-working, passionate figure of strength who never waned in her support or love of her family and who soldiered on, even when times were tough. Her winning smile, joyous laughter and whistling happy nature will be forever etched in our hearts along with her love of learning, passion for baking and her fondness for roses. She had a beautiful sense of style and a strong spirit, providing wisdom and guidance to her children and correcting their grammar whenever she could.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Menno Hospital and Tammy Pope for their kindness, care and support throughout the last few years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. George's Anglican Church, 308 Royal Avenue, Kamloops, BC. Refreshments to follow.

She will be missed by everyone she met in her long life. I will never stop hearing her laughter when I think of her. I know she is watching over her family with love!

Condolences from the Trojanoski's (Paul, Terry and Cameron). I knew your mom my whole life and growing up she she was like a second mother to me. When we moved to Vancouver, I remember spending most summer long weekends together, either we went to Kamloops or the family came to North Vancouver to stay with us. I remember she was always laughing and happy to see us. In the evening she would make tea and we'd visit and dad and Lorne would play cribbage. They would be sipping their scotch and complaining the other was cheating! Once in awhile my dad would say something and she would laugh and say, "oh, Ron!". I visited her in Menno a few times and she was still happy and content. I will miss her, but she and mom can visit now.

It is very difficult to say goodbye to such a wonderful friend. It was more than 50 years ago that we first met as neighbors in Saskatoon.
The first time we contacted Lorne and Lorraine was when we saw this crankey looking guy walking home through the mud after his night shift. To save the day we also saw a bueatifulll young lady waving to him at their widow. From that time to today we became the closest of family freinds.
Such a gracious, kind person you will never know. She was the queen of prim and proper, we all knew her rock solid view of life and what was right from wrong.
My sympathies to Ron, Leigh, Colin and Bob, you have losft a dear mother and we have lost a good part of our life.
Always to be remembered.

Leigh, Colin and Ron and family,

Sincere condolences for your family loss. May the many happy times and memories comfort you through the loss of your mother. I will always remember the fun and laughter filled visits to the Fraser household in Kamloops. Lorraine always had a huge smile on her face and made us all feel at home. She will be dearly missed and warmly remembered by many people including all in the Davies family.

Lorraine was a neighbour of ours on Terra Vista Drive. Such a gracious woman, always with a smile on her face. She loved her roses and could be seen spending hours keeping her garden looking amazing and beautiful. We are sorry for your loss, Debbie and Peter Rouleau

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. I often recall all the times spent at your house on young ave, the sleepovers, that epic grad stag and just hanging out with friends. "Mom" Fraser always made everyone feel so welcome, was always their to lend an ear, gave great hugs and made us the best breakfasts. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. The wonderful memories you all share will hopefully ease the pain. Heaven just gained another "ANGEL"! Take care and hugs to all.
