Paul Zest Obituary

ZEST: PAUL FRANKLIN

1926 ? 2010

After a short courageous battle with cancer, Mr. Paul Zest passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home on December 12, 2010.

Paul was born on October 19, 1926 in Port Arthur, Ontario to Theodore and Myrtle Zest. He was raised in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) where he met Bertha Ross. They married on July 19, 1948. After employment at C.D. Howe Engineering in Thunder Bay, Paul, Bertha and their children moved to Red Rock, Ontario in 1956 where Paul began working at Domtar for the engineering department. Paul and Bertha then moved to Terrace Bay, Ontario in 1979 where Paul was employed by Kimberley Clark as an engineer. Paul retired from Terrace Bay in 1986 at which time he and Bertha moved to Kamloops, B.C. Paul also served in the army during WW11 for a short time.

Paul is survived by his wife of 63 years Bertha of Kamloops, his children Beverley Jones, Pauline (Jimmy) Ziegler, Holly (Robert) Hannula, Gordon Zest and Brenda (Robert) Oster; his grandchildren Rhonda, Jennifer, Steven, Tammy, Angela, Corey, Melanie, Daniel, Aaron and Austin and several great grandchildren and his sister Irene of Thunder Bay, Ontario. He was predeceased by his daughter Marleen Zest and parents Myrtle and Theodore.

Paul?s family was very precious to him and he loved spending time with them. He also adored the many poodles he and Bertha owned over the years. Paul spent a great deal of time tinkering in his garage, working on numerous projects and enjoying his fancy cars.

The family wishes to send their sincere thanks to the staff of the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home, Kelowna Cancer Clinic and Royal Inland Hospital, where he was treated with tremendous kindness and compassion.

As per Paul?s request, cremation will take place and a private service will be held on December 24, 2010.

Should friends desire, donations to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Crescent, Kamloops, BC V2E 2S9 in memory of Paul would be appreciated.
