It is with heavy hearts that we announce Sylvia Anne Allen (née Macdonell) passed away peacefully on October 8, 2021, at the age of 82. Sylvia was born on May 5, 1939 at RIH in Kamloops.

She was the 4th & youngest child of John and Angela Macdonell.

Sylvia leaves behind her five children; Norm (Jackie), Barb, Michael (Paula), Dawn (Bruce) and Tracy as well as nine grandchildren; Ashley, Matthew, Spencer, Andrew, Jacob, James, Madison, Daniel and Jonathan; two sisters Joan and Gail and numerous nieces and nephews from both the Macdonell and Allen families. Sylvia is predeceased by her husband Dave, grandson Zachary, foster daughter Selena and brother John.

When the Allen family moved to Kamloops in 1976, Mom landed a position as Teacher's Assistant and worked with special needs children at Fitzwater School for many years. She enriched many lives with her patience, caring and love as well as made life-long friends. Her commitment to the special needs community was exemplary by opening up her home for foster and respite care.

There will be service held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH,) 635 Tranquille Rd, Kamloops. Due to Covid-19 regulations there will be minimal capacity and face masks are required to be worn. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to 250-314-1136.

Special thank you to the staff and residents at Ridgeview Lodge in Kamloops.

In lieu of gifts, the family would like to ask that donations be made to the BC SPCA or an animal rescue of your choice in Sylvia's name.

Sorry for your loss. Sylvia was a special person who I loved to visit each week with Chloe. She loved the dog and would always have a treat stashed away somewhere. May the love of your family and friends see you through this hard time.

Sylvia was a wonderful lady who leaves us with many fond memories, including the annual Shuswap vacations , many holiday dinners and pool parties at the house. Our love and warm thoughts go out to all the Allen clan. Rest well, Sylvia. You will be missed. With Love from The Martino family.

Sending our deepest sympathies. Sylvia was a big part of our happy memories in Oyen. Your Mom always had the coffee pot on, many laughs during card games, lots of fun when everyone got together for back yard barbecues.
