VICTOR EDWARD JOSEPH MARTIN
Vic was born on April 4, 1927 in Vancouver B.C. and with great sadness passed away peacefully with family at his side in the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC on December 13th, 2010 at the age of 83. Vic will be dearly missed by his four children, Paul (Helen) Martin, Vicci (Marty) Nelson, Brendan (Joey)(Jayne) Martin and Kevin Martin.
Vic was the proud leader of this family and a loving ?grandad? to Jeremy (Katie), Christopher (Courtney), Stacey, Michael Nelson and Ashley, Kimberly, Andrew Martin, and Bryan Martin who will cherish his love forever. Family members Shirley Molitor, Terry, and Guy Varianno, and Gerry Smith will miss their only brother.
Vic leaves behind also numerous nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, Giovanni Durigon, and many great friends who supported dad kindly over the years. Vic was predeceased by his loving wife of close to 57 years, Elda, mother and father Charlotte and Ted, sister Lucille Nelson and brothers- in- law Tango Nelson, Hank Molitor and Phil Smith, and Elda?s family, Marina and Santo Comazzetto, Harry and Janet Maralia, and Doreen Durigon.
Vic was born in Vancouver, lived in Merritt as a child and then resided in Kamloops for over 70 years of his life. He was an active member in our community: a businessman who owned his own accounting practise for over 35 years, president and executive member of the boy?s club and a dedicated football coach. He was actively involved in the Sacred Heart Parish Council, taking on many roles including treasurer as well as president. He was a true Kamloops Blazer fan and an involved share holder with the team. His other true passion was golf, which Vic enjoyed with Elda, his children and was very proud to play with his grandchildren. Vic was a member of the Kamloops Golf and Country Club for close to 40 years. Dad enjoyed many trips to Hawaii with family and friends.
The family wish to thank doctor Michael Wilson, Dr. J. Steyn, the nurses, and respiratory technicians from the Royal Inland Hospital for their outstanding care and support. A special thank you to Paula and Shelly, the nurses, and all of dad?s new family at the Kamloops Senior Village.
Prayers will be recited at 7.00 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2010 and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18th, 2010. Both services will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 255 Nicola Street, Kamloops B.C. Entombment will follow on Monday, December 20th at 10.00 a.m. at Sage Valley Mausoleum.
For those who wish, donations to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, B.C. V2C 2T1 in Vic?s name would be appreciated.
