null NYSTROM Obituary

NYSTROM , Kimberley Byron 1966-2023 Kim Byron Nystrom, the eldest son of Byron and Shirley Nystrom (nee Reine), was born March 26, 1966 in Kamsack, SK. Kim started school in
Vanscoy, SK, then attended school in Grand Cash, AB,
Norquay, SK and finally in Edson, AB where he graduated in 1984. Upon graduation, Kim went to Vermillion, AB where he took pre-employment auto mechanics. Shortly after completing school in Vermillion, he started working with his dad repairing heavy equipment as an apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic. Around 1989, Kim made the move to Edmonton where he would finish his heavy-duty mechanics apprenticeship working in the Edmonton area and attending NAIT. He worked for Case
equipment, and Coneco equipment during his time in Edmonton. In 2000, Kim made the move to Victoria, BC, which was a lifelong dream of his and would spend the next 20 years on the island. In the late 1990's, Kim started taking some classes in Electronics at NAIT. It was during this time that he was diagnosed with Multiple
Sclerosis. He would end up finishing his electronics technologist certificate at Camosun College in Victoria. He worked a number of jobs in Victoria and on the mainland during this time. In early 2007, Kim started a job with the Department of National Defense as a civilian working on the navy ships that would dock in Victoria. This truly was his dream job; they would eventually train him in the instrumentation side of the ships. Kim worked with DND as he called it, up until his health
deteriorated enough that he could no longer work in 2018. In November of 2019, Kim suffered a brain bleed that would ultimately confine him to a wheelchair for the remainder of his time. It was at this time that his brother, Trent, along with his dad and Uncle Doug, packed up his apartment in Victoria and put everything in storage and moved Kim out to Saskatchewan so that he could be close to family. Shortly after moving to Saskatchewan, Kim moved into the Norquay Health Centre where he made his home until December 2022 when he was able to get a place in Regina, at Brightwater senior living where he would live for the remainder of his time. Kim passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the age of 57. Kim was predeceased by his mother
Shirley Nystrom; grandparents John and Joyce Nystrom, and Melvin and Anna Reine. He was survived by his father Byron (Marlene) Nystrom; brother Trent (Michelle) Nystrom; nephews Levi and Cody Nystrom; as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Online messages of
condolence may be left at paragonfuneralservices.com.
