RYAN ROBERTSON Obituary

ROBERTSON, Ryan Vance
Ryan Vance Robertson was born on January 3, 1953 in Calgary, Alberta. He passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in Calgary, Alberta after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Ryan was raised on his parents' farm near Dog Pound, and he lived many years in the Cremona area. He was an active father and community member, participating in many volunteer activities (including coaching, and writing in the community newspaper for Cremona Minor Hockey). Ryan surveyed for many years, and in later years followed his dream of writing, being published in several different publications. For the last 19 years Ryan resided in Calgary and was an active member of Calgary Association of Self Help, advocating for many social service issues, and assisting countless friends through difficult times.

Ryan is lovingly remembered by his brother, Neil (Colleen) and their children, Chelsea and Courtney; son, Aaron (Alana) and their children, Eli and Cecelia, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Ryan is predeceased by his parents, Leon and Hazel.

Ryan was ever so thankful to his friends and family who visited him over the last few months (he truly loved you all). A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ryan's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, #200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5 or the Calgary Association of Self Help, 1019 – 7 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB, T2P 1A8. I played hockey with Ryan for years and we were the best of friends. It's too bad we drifted apart. Always remember his smile and love of life. RIP old friend.

Ryan and I grew up together - cousins just one year apart. He was always a kind and loving soul.
He was forever proud of his family - all of his family, but especially his son Aaron and his family. You were the highlight of his life.
Ryan will be missed by so many, and he will be loved forever.

To Ryan's family and friends: I met Ryan over 18 years ago at a support meeting at Self Help and we shared those many years and struggles. To me Ryan was one of the most positive person I have ever known . Ryan cared more about his family and friends then himself. When I went to see Ryan in hospice he was more worried about his friends and family. To me he was a prince, a gentle warrior who through advocacy and kindness made our lives that much better. He never had a problem saying that he loved me, his family and friends. Ryan never shied ever from showing me pictures of his family and he loved his son Aaron with all his heart and was so proud - the great thing through the years is we heard about Aaron from when he was an undergraduate until he passed the bar and Ryan loved his grandchildren . I will miss Ryan so much and our impromptu morning meetings in my office. Ryan knew I didnt know anything about sports but never questioned me! I think he should have. All the best to all of you and especially to Ryan's family.
