Clarence Steven JOHNSTON

1943 - 2022

Of Bracebridge (formerly of Collingwood and Sarnia), passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 in his 79th year. Born on September 29, 1943, in Collingwood to parents Zilpha "Mae" (nee Swanzea) and Albert Johnston. Loving husband to his school sweetheart Nancy Johnston (nee Seeley) and married for over 55 wonderful years. He was a proud and devoted father of Vickie Smith (Steven) and Steven Johnston (friend Amanda). He will be missed by his daughter-in-law Tina Johnston. He was known as popa to his grandchildren Darrien Smith (Mitchell), Hayden Smith (Lily-Anne), Michael Johnston, Nathan Johnston and Steven Johnston Jr. Clarence will be missed by his sister Marion Foubert (Late Louie), Joanne Acsai (Late Louie), brother Albert Johnston (Maureen), sister in law Fran Johnston and brother-in-law Rick Scott and close friends Jacqui & Paul Fontaine. Predeceased by his parents, brother Robert Johnston and sister Bonnie Scott. Clarence and Nancy met at high school in Collingwood and have enjoyed many memories over the years. He worked as a welder in the Collingwood Ship Yards for many years and a member of the pipe fitters union #663. He had many talents including video games. He enjoyed a cold beer, fire pit, fishing and staying fit while working out at the gym. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends from Bracebridge, Sarnia and Collingwood. A memorial gathering and reception for family and friends will be held at the Chatterson Funeral Home, 404 Hurontario Street, Collingwood on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his favourite charities, a local hospice or humane society.
