She is survived by six children, David, Richard, Gordon, Kenneth, Krista and Ross, their spouses and partners, many grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as two brothers and a sister, Dan and Jim Self and Lynne Celhoffer as well as their extended families. She has a beautiful soul and has touched so many lives. She will always be the wind beneath our wings and now has soared to new heights. She will always be sadly missed and loved forever.

I did not hear of your passing, but felt I had not heard from you. I hope you and John Lilly are laughing and smiling as the friends you always were...I was thinking of John today and was thinking of messaging you when I went to you fb site. Jan- let me say this, you bless this earth and everyone you met with your wisdom and your presence.

My sympathies to all her family and friends. Jan sent me out in her kayak to try it out. I bought one shortly after. R.I.P. Jan

As cousin to Janet, I have many fond memories of happy times growing up & spending time together. Janet and her siblings were my first baby sitters. She is sadly missed.

Our family is one with all Jan's children, grandchildren and friends in keenly feeling the loss of a great lady. We hold you close in our thoughts just as we treasure all the memories of Jan. She was ever the 'big sister' of the family, the 'mother' of not only her children but a host of others whose lives were enriched by her enthusiasm, creativity and understanding heart. Her care-giving extended to our parents during their last years, a loving gift so typical of Jan's generous spirit.
Her art and poetry will linger to remind us of how blessed we were to have been part of the same family. Even while feeling the great void left by her passing, we celebrate her courageous, vibrant life.

As Jan’s younger sister, I of course, could not imagine a time when she was not here — still can’t.
Her experience in entertaining children began as a teenager when she would organize games, competitions, and crafts for my cousin Cal and me at our summer cottage near Baysville. Years later my children got to appreciate her talents when they attended her daycamp in Dwight. All this while raising a beautiful and loving family of her own. Jan was there for me countless times in my youth and I am forever grateful for the loving care she gave our mother. I loved her and miss her. My heart is with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that she loved so much.

Aunt Janet was a caring, loving woman who did her best to keep me on the straight and narrow at times. I have many wonderful memories of visiting her house and yard for play and cookouts. Her love for her family and friends had no bounds. My deepest condolences to Dave, Rich, Krista and the rest of the family.

So many great memories of this wonderful lady. Rides in the wagon with the St Bernard pulling us down the road to adventures with the youth group and the cool lady in the sports car. Poems and a great sense of humour. Be at peace
