David MURRAY Obituary

Peacefully at home on Friday, October 7, 2022 surrounded by love I have decided to move on to the next stage of my journey. I want to take this opportunity to say good-bye to my immediate and extended family, friends, customers, business, community and political associates. It is important that you know how I have enjoyed our time together and work to make a positive difference today and for future generations.
I am proud to have reached my 96th year, having celebrated my 95th birthday in August. I was honoured to be the husband and best friend to my wife of 69 years, Aileen Murray (nee Griffin). I am pre-deceased by our son Andrew David (October 25, 2007). I leave my daughter Pennyjane (Pj) Murray, husband Al Conquergood, granddaughter Laura Conquergood, her husband Jeff Hodder and great-grandsons Darren and Ian to carry on our business of 68 years, and the many projects I started with the capable assistance and indulgence of our staff.
I began my life's journey in Toronto as the son of Spencer and Lina Murray and as the big brother to Paul Howard Murray and later brother-in-law to Arlene (pre-deceased) and then as Uncle to their children and grandchildren.
Later I had the privilege of being the son-in-law of Alvin and Myrtle Griffin, and as brother-in-law to Vera Armstrong (Bill) (pre-deceased), John (Lori), Wayne (Nancy), Paul (Alice) and Murray (Clem) Griffin and Uncle to their children and grandchildren.
To those of you who I was Poppa Dave or Uncle Dave to, I treasured our special relationship and hope that I provided you with encouragement to live your best life as I have.
I would like to thank the team in Dr. Petrosoniak's office, the many Paramedics in both the community and truck divisions, the teams at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Community Care and those in the Palliative Care outreach programs (PSWs, Nurses, Doctors and Admin Staff). The care I received was professional, compassionate and filled with many laughs.
My family invites you to participate in the next leg of my journey by attending my funeral at the Fenelon Falls United Church on Friday, October 21st , at 1:00 p.m., and reception at the Fenelon Falls Community Centre at 2:00 pm. The family will have a private interment at 3:30 p.m. at the Fenelon Falls Cemetery. For those interested there will be a Mason's funeral at 11 a.m. at the Fenelon Falls United Church. A Celebration of Life will be hosted at Nahma Lodge in summer 2023.
In lieu of flowers make a memorial donation to a Charity of Your Choice or one of the following: Ross Memorial Hospital (Kidney Dialysis Unit), the Retina Foundation of Canada, Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind (CGDB), or Raising Awareness for Mental Health (www.demonbanshee.com - live after Nov.1/22).

Dave, you have been so much more to both of us than merely a trusted friend and a fellow passionate Conservative. Yours and Aileen's infinite kindness, over the many decades, had always translated into a steadfast inspiration and leadership for our own life's journeys, as well as for so many others' that have shared this road we have all traveled on, with you. It has indeed been an honour to know you, Dave. You have been a life's teacher, a confidant, a kid at heart, a soldier who has lived by commitment to his principles yet always remained a non-conformist, and one who has shared his wisdom within friendships, yet never judged. Above all Dave, you will be remembered by all of us who knew and loved you, as a great gent among men. We will deeply miss you. Our deepest condolences to your lifelong sweetheart Aileen who is one of life's most beautiful souls; and to Pj, proudly raised to become the woman of conviction that she is, along with her standards-of-excellence in all that she undertakes; and to her husband Al, a brilliant and caring man just as you were Dave. Our continued condolences to your entire Murray clan. And yes, we so often think of (and then miss) Andrew and recall those many happy summers we all spent. along our combined life's journeys. We both will always include you in our prayers of thanksgiving. God Bless You All.

I have often thought of you Dave, over the many years since we parted ways. You were a most generous and kind individual, inviting me into the barbers chair, to watch the Maple Leafs...win or lose. We cheered, whatever the outcome.. I cherish those memories. God bless you, Aileen, PJ and the rest of the broud.
