Derek PULSFORD Obituary

1932-2022

Derek (Chink), a 32-year employee of Outboard Marine, passed away suddenly at PRHC on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Born in Tiverton, Devon, England on October 5, 1932, dear son of the late Stanley Frederick and Mary Margaret (Lee) Pulsford. Beloved partner and husband of Muriel (Hurl) for 46 years. Loving father of Stanley (Jane), Maryann (John), Gerald, and Gregory (Tammy). Dear grandfather of Robyn (Sean), Erin (Marvin), Brett (Hannah), Bryan, Sara (Tim), Geoffrey, Lucas, Derek, Erica, and Alexander. Great grandfather of Benjamin and Isla. Predeceased by his brother Stanley and father-in-law Donald Hurl. Brother-in-law of John (Sherelene) Hurl, Pam Irwin (John McCrae), Ron (Kathy) Hurl, Don Hurl, and Rick (Shirley) Hurl. Will be missed by many nieces and nephews, and cousins in England, United States, and Australia. After retirement, Derek enjoyed travelling, auction sales and tinkering in his garage, taking things apart and, sometimes, even putting them back together. Later years he enjoyed watching the birds, squirrels, and rabbits from his favourite chair by the window, or keeping up with the British sitcoms- or what a certain US politician might be up to. The family are grateful to Dr. David Van Loon for his 50 years of care of Derek, the wonderful medical staff in emerge and unit B4 at PRHC for their warm and friendly care of Derek, and special thanks to dear friend Linda for all her support. A visitation for Derek will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES- Lakefield Chapel, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield, on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Derek's family requests that all in attendance wear a mask or face covering. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARK (Animal Rescue Krew) or LAWS (Lakefield Animal Welfare Society). To Stan and family, I am sorry to read about the passing of your Dad, driving by his house always made me laugh. I used to run into him once in a while and always had a little chat. You are in my thoughts.
