Donald KENNY Obituary

It is with great sadness but also extreme joy that we announce the graduation of Donald William Kenny to his eternal home on Palm Sunday, March 28, 2021 in his 90th year. He did his undergrad degree in Faith, Family and Friends with a minor in all things Irish. Don will be missed by those who treasured him the most, especially his deeply loved wife of 29 years, Dorothy Carroll. He was a world-class teacher to his four children, Angela Brooks (Ryan) of Peterborough, Karen Terrell (Dave) of USA, Kevin Kenny - pre-deceased 2010 (Jackie) of Markham and Mary-Theresa Hiltz (Randy) of Chatham. Don was always an excellent tutor to his 15 grand-children and his two stepdaughters Helen Brennan and Kathleen O'Reilly. Don was escorted from his earthly home in Lindsay, Ontario to his new heavenly classroom by his first wife Madeline Kenny (deceased 1987) and his son Kevin. Don was the youngest in his family class of 14 children, 12 of whom met him at the pearly gates of God's playground, while Don's sister, Marilyn Medcalf, continues her earthly studies. Don literally received his Masters Degree in Education, teaching in London, On (Phys. Ed., Special Ed and Guidance) for 31 years. Don received an A+ in his lifelong passion for sports, as an Athlete (boxing, football, baseball), coach, armchair quarterback extraordinaire and captain of "Team DK". Don's Masterclass however, was his life long study of faith where he taught best by example. In his textbook of love, a chapter is dedicated to Don's many care workers, especially Sandra Ree and Dr. Petrasoniak. Due to current restrictions, there will be a private family funeral mass and interment with a summer Celebration of Life. In Don's new home-room, he will now have perfect attendance at every Inverhuron sunset, he will sit centre ice at every Habs game, and will oversee every Kenny Reunion with a Guinness in hand. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Development and Peace Canadian Charity. (www.devp.org). Please go to www.stoddartfuneralhome.com. to share your memories and stories of this great educator. As his final lesson, may we remember his favourite prayer... "May the good Lord hold you in the palm of His hand."

Don, my time spent with you was relatively short, however, you managed to steal my heart from the very beginning. There was a heart connection that happened so effortlessly that I knew I was meant to come and help out in whatever small way I could. Never have I met a man who was filled with such love, kindness and such a wonderful co operative nature as you had. You were always giving even though your care takers were there to take care of you. You would always ask “ what do you want me to do?” And you would do it. Or you’d say “ what do you think I should do?” And again you would do it. This was usually at bedtime as I was the overnight care giver. I’d get him tucked in and he’d say “ what should I do now?” If he wasn’t tired, we’d watch some TV ( he loved Irish music shows or nature shows), sing some of his favourite songs, and then say our prayers. If he looked tired I’d suggest he put away any thoughts of the day and focus on his loving wife Dorie and think about his three daughters who have embodied their father’s traits and close his eyes and have sweet dreams. He’d close his eyes and tell me that he could do that.
It’s hard not to love a man like Don and all who knew him in any capacity will miss him but he has left wonderful memories behind for family and friends and for the rest of the world, he has left his embodiment of love, faith, compassion and positivity in his three daughters, Angela, Karen and Mary-Theresa.

My deepest condolences to Dory, Angie, Karen, Mary Theresa, and their families Don was one of the sweetest souls I have ever had the honor to care for. His love for God, his wife, and his family was evident upon a brief conversation with him. He will be missed by all. I am Jealous of the Angels https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n67dSG35L4
