Elizabeth PATTERSON Obituary
PATTERSON, Elizabeth Anne (n? Lowry) Sunday, February 7, 1937 - Sunday, March 25, 2018 Born at Nicholls Hospital in Peterborough, ON to Helen Dainton Rogers (1992) and Robert (Bob) Ward Lowry (1987). Sister of Margaret Rulli (Sharon ON). Liz attended Queen Alexandra Elementary School and Peterborough Collegiate and Vocational School (PCVS). She worked part-time at the Peterborough Public Library and after PCVS worked as a ward clerk at Peterborough Civic Hospital. She moved to Toronto to attend the Baptist Training Institute at Walmer Rd. Church and then went on to Women's Leadership Training School at McMaster University. Liz left Mac due to extenuating circumstances and worked at the Hamilton Public Library Westdale (Schools Branch) and then became a ward clerk at Hamilton General Hospital. Liz met Charlie in February 1962 and they were married on August 11, 1962. They were together for 49 years until Charlie passed away in 2011. Their first house remained forever the family home and hub for memorable get-togethers and great family dinners. A stay-at-home Mom until her children were grown, at age 50 Liz became a ward clerk at the Hamilton General Hospital and later the Henderson Hospital. She retired at age 59. Liz was an avid reader and loved doing crosswords. She enjoyed swimming and creating beautiful works of art in cross stitch. Liz treasured her friends, both new and old (some of 60 years plus!), and enjoyed closing out Cora's on lunch dates. Elizabeth's greatest joy, however - always and ever - was her beloved family. Our darling Mom is sorely missed by Heather Patterson Rogers (Jack 2007), Jeannie Patterson, and Charles (Chuck) Patterson (Michele) and Grandma Liz will always be loved by her treasured grandchildren, Cameron, Megan, and Kiera. Cremation has taken place and there will be no service. In lieu of flowers or donations and in the true spirit of Elizabeth, please perform an act of kindness for another soul. xoxoxo
