Frederick Lawrence MARTELL

Passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 in Lindsay at the age of 95. Fred was the beloved husband of Jacqueline (née Judge) in their 64th year of marriage. Loving father of Maureen Martell, Colleen Hagert (Steven), Ralph Martell and Sean Martell (Joan). Cherished Papa of Lauren Hagert, Megan Hagert, Erin Martell and Hailey Martell. Predeceased by his parents Frederick Z. and Mary Martell (née Cake). Fred was born and raised in Nova Scotia and was a proud graduate of St. F.X. University. Fred and Jackie lived 20 years in Montreal and Fred received his master's degree from the University of Montreal. He was a founding member of the faculty at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay and taught there until retirement in the 1990's. Fred went on to do considerable charity work in the Lindsay and surrounding area teaching literacy, serving as chairman of the Library Board, delivering Meals on Wheels and recording textbooks for the blind. Fred and Jackie have been active members of St. Mary's Catholic Church for over 50 years. Visitation was held at the Stoddart Funeral Home, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay on Sunday, February 21st from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Monday, February 22nd at 11:00 a.m. Interment followed at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the Canadian Diabetes Society would be appreciated by the family.
