James Hay SMITH

SMITH, James Hay Peacefully on Friday, November 8th, 2019 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Loving husband of 62 years to Elizabeth Mabel (nee McLarnon). Loving father of Andrea Stevens (Mark) and Valerie Butler (Mike). Proud grandfather of Michael, Craig, Jennifer Olivieri (Derek) and the late Sean. Great grandfather of Liam and Raegan. Jim was born in Kilwinning, Scotland. He came to Canada with parents Ann and Val as a boy. He was always very interested in music, becoming involved with the St. John's Anglican Choir where he took voice and piano lessons from the choirmaster and met his wife Mabel. During his working career he was employed at C.G.E, Maxwell Review and later at Canada Life in Toronto as manager of their large in house printing facility, eventually retiring in 2002. He enjoyed golf and travel. He and his wife Mabel travelled to many countries and enjoyed cruising, eventually passing this passion on to their children. Jim was a dedicated volunteer for the Peterborough Singers and All Saints Anglican Church. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Rd. Peterborough. Reception to follow. Interment Little Lake Cemetery.
