Jennifer Tworkowski Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing Jennifer Tworkowski on October 24, 2022. Born on January 18, 1942, in Bridlington, Yorkshire, to Benjamin and Edith (Nee Siddall) Holroyd, she is survived by husband, of 51 years, Christopher, children Adam (Jennifer), Julia (Kevin) and grandchildren Fiona, Teagan, Cameron, Kieran, Ailish, Darcy and Isla. Jennifer obtained her degree from Edinburgh College, Scotland, and moved to Vancouver in 1965 and then to Toronto in 1966. She worked a number of jobs, but settled at Toronto Social Services, at Seaton House as Food Services Supervisor and Shift Supervisor and Manager at Robertson House. Having an active social life, she met her husband in 1970, married in Sewerby Yorkshire in 1971, and had her first child, Julian, in January 1972 (who died in April 1972), followed by Adam in 1973 and Julia in 1975. In 1979, Jennifer bought the beloved farm, a weekend getaway retreat and location of many social events. After her retirement in 2001, she bought a cottage in the Kawarthas where she lived, enjoying beautiful lake views and sunsets until the end. Jennifer loved to travel, frequently visited England, toured Brazil, Poland, South Africa, Morocco, Australia, India, China, and spent most winters in Florida. Jennifer hosted many parties and was active in her community. She was a member of Toronto Rotary Sunshine Club, Peterborough Rotary Club, and BEL Rotary Cub. She also belonged to Lakefield Probus Club and the Red Hat Society. In Florida, in about 2011, she fell injuring her back, went to China in a wheelchair but returned "walking", but was never able to walk much and her health started to deteriorate. A Celebration of Jennifer's Life, followed by a reception will be held at Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough, on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 2 p.m. Visitation one hour prior. Donations can be made in Jennifer's name to the Rotary Foundation (https://my.rotary.org/en/donate) or the Yes Shelter for Youth and Families (http://yesshelter.ca/help/help-yes/donate/).
