Passed away on February 7, 2022 in his 80th year after a brave battle with cancer. Mike came to Canada from England with his parents (the late Doris (nee Robinson) and Alfred Bishop) and two brothers in 1957. Mike graduated from the former P.C.V.S. and became a bookkeeper, eventually starting his own business in 1988. Over the years, he worked for countless businesses and non-profits and enjoyed the company of many wonderful co-workers. Mike will be remembered as someone who could talk to anyone about just about anything as he was endlessly curious. He particularly loved to talk about politics, current events, the weather, new technology and his grandchild Erynn's cats! He is also remembered by his kids and others as being willing to drive someone just about anywhere. Mike is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Jan (nee Alderson), children of whom he was so proud, Heather (Sean Quigley) and Scott and grandchild, Erynn Q, as well as brothers Tony and Andy, sisters-in-law Holly, Sandy and Lin Bamboulis. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews and their families and those whose lives he touched throughout the city and beyond. The family would like to thank Drs. Shim, Youssef and Dickie and their teams for outstanding care throughout Mike's illness. Special thanks to Dr. Beamish and the nurses, PSWs and staff at Peterborough Hospice for their extraordinary support during Mike's final days. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
