Robert David MacKay

Dave passed away peacefully at the age of 88 with his daughters and wife at his side. Born in Toronto Dave grew up on the eastern shore of Nova Scotia. He graduated from Guelph University as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1960 and practiced at Peterborough Veterinary Services for over 25 years where as an active partner he contributed to the success of the growing practice. As part of his many professional accomplishments he established herd health programs for dairy producers in Ontario and New Brunswick. He moved back to Nova Scotia to work as a vet for the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture where he continued to champion herd health. In 1999 he retired to spend more time on his beloved Bass River Ranch raising Tarentaise and Charolais cattle and pursuing his love of horses and trail riding.
Dave leaves behind his wife Ria of 37 years, sister Billi, children Michelle Mackay (Don), Heather David, Beth Brownson (Cam) [daughters of Joan Mackay] and granddaughter Kelly David (Mark).
