Sheldon Lewis SMITH

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in Campbellford at the age of 94. Previously of Belleville. Cherished father of Joanne Smith (the late Phil Robertson) and Derrick Smith (Anne Henry). Grandfather of Tiffany Thompson. He will be sadly missed by his nephews Richard and Bob Blackwell and by his extended family. Sheldon was inducted into the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame in 1989 and is the recipient of four City of Peterborough Civic Awards for his racing accomplishments. Sheldon was the top racer in Canada between 1950 and 1968. He also won national titles in 500-mile races for three years in the 1950s. Along with being an avid motorcycle rider all his life, he enjoyed spending time at the cottage he built on Cordova Lake. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m. at HIGHLAND PARK CEMETERY, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough.
