Frieda RECHSTEINER

It is with great sadness that the family of Frieda Rechsteiner (nee Ramsauer) announce her peaceful passing on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the age of 83, at St. Mary's Hospital. A special thank you to the great staff at St. Mary's Hospital. Frieda was born in Wittenberg, Switzerland. She grew up with her many sisters and brothers: Vreni, Margrit, Lina, Hedy, Emil, Ernst and Jakob. Frieda married Emil Rechsteiner in 1958. Together they immigrated to Canada and operated a family farm. Frieda was a loving wife and mother. She was an energetic, hardworking woman who loved to learn many new skills and hobbies, in her free time, which was limited, due to the family farm. During her retirement she loved spending time with her grandchildren, Erin, Grant and Ethan. Frieda started new adventures and continued to grow, working at an organic farm. She eventually landed at Meadow Acres where she pursued her passion for gardening, which fulfilled her love of nature. Many plants, shrubs and trees were "rescued" by her amazing green thumb. Frieda made many new friends and continued to work for over 20 years. Her final retirement was at the incredible age of 81. Frieda will be missed by many family, friends, acquaintances and neighbors. Her spirit will continue to inspire and bring back many happy memories by those whose lives she has touched. A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, May 5th from 2-4 at the Jutzi Mark Funeral home in New Hamburg. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation.
