Michael Edwin Demers

1960 - 2022

January 26, 1960 - March 12, 2022

With saddened hearts, the family of Michael announces his peaceful passing at the Oakville - Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 5:00 a.m. Beloved sibling of Carol Labrosse (Richard), Paul Demers (Raffaela), David Demers (Debbie Davis), and Patricia Sullivan (Sully). Michael will be sadly missed by his niece, Lisa Hodges (Brad), and his nephews Ryan Demers (Jenny), and Jeffery Demers as well as his great-nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Robert Demers (2001), and Betty Demers (2013).
Michael spent his childhood in Welland, Ontario then attended Burlington Central High School after his family moved there. Michael was an active teen who enjoyed riding his bicycle and participating in skating activities. After graduation, Michael worked at Canada Printing Industries, then later at Babcock and Wilcox, both located in Burlington, Ontario.
In 1995, Michael moved into an apartment building operated by The March of Dimes, in Oakville, Ontario, after he was diagnosed with Frederick's Ataxia. At this location, Michael was well-liked and made many friends. Michael handled his illness with grace and dignity and would always greet you with a smile. Michael resided there for the remainder of his life.
We would like to thank the staff at the March of Dimes for their compassionate care of Michael as well as the medical personnel at Oakville -Trafalgar Hospital who were truly dedicated to his needs throughout. In accordance with Michael's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family internment will take place at a later date.
In place of flowers, donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association would be appreciated.
