John W. Sherwood

1940 - 2021

Born Stratford, Ontario September 17, 1940, John passed away in St. Catharines on April 30, 2021. Beloved husband of Margaret for 58 years. Loving father of Steven (Irene), Paul (Corri) and Brian (The late Kim). Proud grandfather to Emily (Mike) Scott, Adam, Cameron and Bridgette-Ann. Sadly missed by his sister Mary Christine (Sam) Jones, sisters-in-law Mary Kay (Wilf) Butler and Audrey Weiss. John was employed with the Bank of Montreal BMO for many years and then with Willson International for 31 years. Family first, but community was important, and he gave back in many ways including his time as the president of the Jaycees, Minor Baseball and the Rotary Club who honoured him with a Paul Harris Fellow award. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Heatherwood Retirement Residence and Andy at Port Weller Pharmacy for your compassion and dignified care. Thank you as well to Dr. H Meshrki and Dr. Leveque and the oncology department at St. Catharines Hospital. Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. A private Mass at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Fort Erie, followed by interment at St. Michael's Cemetery, Stonemill Rd. will take place when circumstances allow.
