Laura RAAFLAUB Obituary
In her 91st year Laura passed away peacefully with her family by her side at McNally House Hospice, in Grimsby, ON.
Laura was born in Kingston, ON, to Gordon and Margaret (nee Smith) Turcotte and raised with her eight siblings in Ontario. She married the love of her life, Morley Raaflaub, and they shared 36 years of marriage together. Morley and Laura raised four children and taught them the value of hard-work, living within one's means and the importance of family. Together they lived in Ontario, Germany, Calgary, AB, and settled in Abbotsford, BC, for their retirement. Their journey in life together ended early with Morley's passing in 1988. Laura continued to live life to the fullest in Abbotsford, BC, and she later returned to Ontario to be closer to family. She spent her final years of life living independently in Vineland, ON.
She enjoyed family gatherings, celebrating her children and grandchildren's accomplishments, tending to her garden, playing Euchre, 65 and Dominos, and having a good cup of tea. Wherever Laura lived she was involved and volunteered in her community and church, and made lasting friendships.
She will be lovingly remembered as a strong, generous and sharp-witted woman by her children, Kenneth (Linda) Raaflaub, Laura (Stuart) Royal, Gordon (Debra) Raaflaub and Diane (Raymond) Abbott; grandchildren, Lynn (Cameron), Stephen, Shantelle, Sarah, Melissa (Justin), Kevin (Andrea), Michelle (Ben) and Ashley; great-grandchild, Cassie; sisters, Lillian (Jack) Gilbert and Carrol Turcotte; brother-in-laws Doug (Shirley) Raaflaub and Ray Raaflaub; sister-in-laws Gerry Turcotte and Pat Turcotte; and many friends.
Laura and her family are grateful for the exceptional care and love she received at McNally House Hospice. Memorial donations may be made to McNally House Hospice, Grimsby, ON, in honour of Laura.
At Laura's request no service will be held. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Abbotsford, BC.
May God bless Laura and keep her, may God's face shine upon her and give her peace. May she know she was always surrounded by love.
