Robin CRAVEN Obituary

1955-2023
It is with much sadness we announce the sudden passing of Robin Matthew Craven at his residence on February 10, 2023.

He will be missed by his sisters; Melanie and Veronica, as well as his nephews Andrew, Rowan and niece Alison. Predeceased by his parents Bernard and Monica Craven.

Born in Bournemouth, England in 1955, Robin moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake in 1975 where he established himself as a successful craftsman. From his workshops in Niagara-on-the-Lake, his career consisted but was not limited to; setting up and creating stage sets/props for the Shaw Festival, Vancouver Opera, Montreal Opera, Halifax Opera. Later, his skill led him into robotics and animatronics for Clifton Hill Entertainment District. He was instrumental in building and constructing the Bird Kingdom in Niagara Falls. He was passionate about everything he did. In his spare time, Robin enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hiking and canoeing.

In accordance with Robin's wishes, cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Lincoln County Humane Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario, would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca

Robin was a regular customer at the grocery store where I work. He was the first customer in the store every Tuesday and Friday. He always came to the bakery for his fresh chocolate croissants and calabrese bun. He was a very routined man. Even 20 years ago when I worked in the bakery at a different store he was a regular customer you could count on like clock work. He was always friendly to everyone at work and we missed him that very first day he didn't come in.
I only knew him as a customer but even to the staff at Phil's Independent he is missed.

Robin Craven was a brilliant man with skills that will be hard to replace for those he worked for. It has only been a few days since his passing, and my sadness is overwhelming. After 40 years of friendship I will miss him forever.
