Steve KRAR Obituary

KRAR, Steve July 20,1924 - June 30, 2018 A visionary leader in education, technology and manufacturing; An unselfish man willing to help improve the lives of others and make the world a better place; Passed peacefully, just short of his 94th birthday, at Gilmore Lodge, Fort Erie with family by his side. Predeceased by his loving wife Elsie (Alice) of 64 years; his parents John and Mary Krar of Welland; his three siblings John Jr., Joe and Frank; daughter-in-law Sharon (Allan). Survived by his two children Judy (Vancouver) and Allan Krar (Ridgeway), grandson Daniel (Vancouver), step-granddaughters of Sharon, Brookeley, Erica and Lisa, sisters-in-law Odette (Frank) and Doris (Joe) and many nieces and nephews. A tool and die maker who turned machine shop secondary school educator in Niagara Falls (1955), Guelph (1956) and Eastdale Secondary, Welland (1962 - 1974); 10 years on the Ontario College of Education, University of Toronto as summer school technical trainer; who turned author of technical text books (1959 - 2008) having more than 80 publications in print worldwide. Steve was constantly active in all facets of manufacturing technology and education holding executive positions in a multitude of professional and educational organizations. He started Niagara Publishers distributing educational materials of schools. His passion to inspire vision and creative thinking was the seed founding the Advanced Technology Think Tank annual conferences now celebrating its 56th anniversary. Inducted into the Canadian Manufacturing Hall of Fame 2009. The last founding organizer of the King Street Boys annual reunion, now known as the Welland Boys. He always found time to golf, curl and enjoy family activities. Joined in a Celebration of Love June 21, 2017 to Trudy Vachon-Bunting of Gilmore Lodge. Steve had a passion for life and people right till the end. A heart filled thanks to the dedicated caring staff of Gilmore Lodge and personal caregiver Andrea Cook. Williams Funeral Services (722 Ridge Road N., Ridgeway) has been entrusted with arrangements. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial donations to Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by his family. Celebration of Life 2 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018, 3378 Hyman Avenue, Ridgeway.
