George WARK Obituary

WARK, George Stanley With much sadness, but gratitude for a life well lived, the family announces the peaceful passing of George Stanley Wark, on December 19, 2018, at the age of 89. Most recently of Nobel, Ontario, and formerly of Carling Township and Hamilton, Ontario, Arcadia, Florida, and Truro, Nova Scotia. George leaves his devoted and loving wife of 66 years, Dale;, sons George (Dawna), Michael (Karen), John (Kim), and daughter Colleen (Phil); his grandchildren Cindy, Miranda, Jessica, Dylan and Clare, and special niece Bonnie (Roy). Predeceased by his brother Don, sister Bea, and parents Stanley and Myrtle. He also leaves behind sisters Lois and Polly and many other special nieces and nephews. George loved life and was happiest working at G.S. Wark Ltd., the family construction company he founded with Dale in 1955 in Hamilton, Ontario. The business eventually grew to involve his sons and daughter. He retired in 1994, after 39 years in the business. The company continues to thrive under his name. George was lucky to travel extensively with Dale, RV'ing across North America, trips to Europe, Australia and New Zealand. He loved working on ""a project"" (there were many), wintering in Florida, golfing and tending his vegetable garden, reading, and boating on Georgian Bay. While he never out-foxed the chipmunks and deer who made off with his crops, he fared much better living his life fully in his 89 years with us. Described as a ""character"" by many, the George stories abound. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of West Parry Sound Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. Donations and in lieu of flowers, donations directed to the Palliative Care Unit care of the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation (wpshcf.com/donation/) or the charity of your choice would greatly be appreciated. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Torrance Funeral Home (89 Bowes Street, Parry Sound). To send an online condolence please visit www.torrancefuneralhome.com. An informal Celebration of Life will be announced at a future date. ""I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life, To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife; And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover, And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.""
