I just found out about the passing of Nanette. I have many childhood memories of picnics and get togethers (some on old video) with my grandparents, Pete and Lolly Ruocco. My dad Silvio never went downtown without stopping into the Bon Ton for coffee, a pastry and a chat. Your mother was a very gracious lady. Blessings to you all and Rest in Peace Mrs. Notte.

I just found out today (6 Jan 2017) that Mrs Notte has died. My family has been going to the Bon Ton since 1947. I'm now living in Austria, so it's not a surprise that it took so long for me to find out. I have so many wonderful memories of her but I'll share just one. It was my 12th birthday. There was no one else to pick up the cake so, while my mother circled the block on Granville St., I went in to get my cake. Mrs Notte served me and, as she showed me the writing to confirm that it was correct, she said, hey, wait a second, that's you! She was so shocked that I was picking up my own cake (I said nothing about my mother driving around and around waiting for me to come out!) that she sat me down and gave me tea and my favourite pastry. I got hell from my mother but it was worth it! I'll miss her and I do miss the Bon Ton, even though I'm in the land of great pastries. I'll raise a glass in her memory tonight. Sleep well!

I just very recently heard of the passing of Mrs. Notte. The first time I met her was in 1978 when she and Mr. Notte where at the shop paying a visit, and making sure everything was being run to their liking! The business they started in 1926, Notte's Bon Ton Pastry Ltd.", was and still is a Vancouver icon! Whenever I had the opportunity to see her she was always so kind and gracious, and she always remembered my name! She was a highly respected and admired lady and the matriarch of a wonderful family. I have not seen Mrs. Notte for many years and it's wonderful she enjoyed a very long and much loved life. My sincere condolences to Sandy, Iris, Alain and Toni, and the entire Notte Family.

My oldest memories of 'Petit Nanette' are from when I was a child staying at the house in West Vancouver. She took us swimming off the rocks. She had a strong personality and as a child I was a little frightened of her. As an adult that changed to awe and respect. My condolences to all of the family.
