Audrey Kirkpatrick Obituary

1926 - 2026

On February 19, in her hundredth year, Audrey (née Dawe) passed away at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver after a long, fulfilling life. She was born in Toronto's Beaches neighbourhood to the late 'Pheme' Stafford and Alec Dawe, and was predeceased by her husband Walter (in 1994) and her brothers Alex and Donald. She leaves behind her loving family: children Nancy (Michael), Ian (Candace), and Karin Kirkpatrick; grandchildren Daniel, Gavin, and Alex Kirkpatrick, Conor McCarthy, and Kaelan McKechnie; and great-grandchildren Eva, Hannah, Nora, and Emma.

Our mom was a 'working mother' during decades when that was unusual. She and our father lived in Toronto (Don Mills), Edmonton, and Abbotsford. After being widowed, she moved to North Vancouver, BC, where she built a new life. Mom was a SuperAger with a curious mind who enjoyed spending time with family members discussing the news of the day. She overcame many health challenges with resilience and perseverance, including a lifelong hearing impairment.

We thank the staff at Summerhill PARC who helped make Audrey's final years enjoyable. Donations in her memory can be made to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. A celebration of life will be held in March.

Karin, Nancy, Ian and family. My heart goes out to you all in the loss of your Mom/Grandma. I loved your Mom so very much. It was always a pleasure to pop by and see her when she was living with Karin. Such a sweet soul.
All my love, Karen
