Brian HUGHES Obituary

HUGHES, Brian Robert Brian Robert Hughes passed away suddenly on June 1, 2018. Brian was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife, Josie, and his children Alex, Owen and Carlie. He was predeceased by his mother, Cathy, and sorely missed by his loving parents, Bob and Naomi; siblings Pat (Darrell), Carol (Jim), Donna (Joe), Randy (Denice), Linda (Mark) and Shari (Brian) and their families; Josie's siblings, Don (Carla) and Kathy (Jim) and their family, as well as his extended family and friends. Those at Northwest Hydraulic Consultants, where he has worked for the past 30 years, will feel his absence deeply. Brian loved Deep Cove for its abundance of trails where he could be found hiking, running or biking. He also loved being close to Whistler and Mt. Seymour where he taught skiing for over 20 years. Brian was a big believer in volunteering. In his memory, please consider giving up a few hours of your time to your community. A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 2:00p.m. up Mt. Seymour - Enquist Lodge. Love you Forever and a day.

I worked with Brian for a number of years in the early '90s at NHC. He was a friendly, competent and ever-smiling workmate with a great sense of humour. My strongest memory of him was when he played Santa at the office Christmas party. Bruce Hunter and I were in stitches! My condolences to the family for your tragic loss, way too early. It is also a loss to those of us in the water resources community.

I think I've met Brian just three times, the last being the weekend I spent at his and Josie's house a few months ago. He and Josie projected a spirit of hospitality and love to everyone that shared dinner that Saturday night. I'll never forget sitting on the couch chatting and sharing the Sunday paper with him. I think he just really loved people. Josie... I love you dear... Cousin Georgia Love
