Bruce Goodwin Obituary

Bruce passed away unexpectedly on 1 November, age 83, survived by older brothers John (Rose-Marie) and Barry (Lorna), nephews and nieces Yann, Galia (Terence), Duff (Constance) and Leah. He was born and raised in West Van (class of '61). A top-level rugby player (first member of Capilano Rugby Club to play for Canada's National Team), known on the North Shore for his successful tree-topping business, craftsmanship making beautiful wooden burl tables/mobiles from driftwood, and his commercial hand-demolition business (houses, buildings, areas of Park Royal Shopping Centre, floors of Lions Gate Hospital). As a natural problem-solver/handyman, he knew how things were put together, and so could take them apart by hand. He retired at age 80 as his rugby days and tough physical work began to take its toll. Bruce was a loyal, kind, caring, generous and an artistic craftsman striving for excellence. He was most talented in uncommon activities.

sorry to hear of your loss. Bruce was a good friend and team mate of mine in both NS Cougar football and West Van Barbarian and Capilano Rugby. We shared many great times together when we were young. I used to run in to him at the Pemberton Station and have beers with him. I have many stories about Bruce and our times together, on and off the field.

I am very sorry to hear that Bruce has passed away.
Bruce + I met when I was 16 + he was 21.
Bruce was friends with Fred Hume. My family lived next door to the Hume family.
My sister Marg + I were lucky to swim in the Hume's swimming pool + this is where I met Bruce.

Bruce was very kind to me + I would like to honor his memory at his celebration of life.
Please let me know where it will be held + at what time.

Thank you
