Daniel Tutt Obituary

TUTT, Daniel William January 18, 1977 - May 27, 2014 Dan passed away in Calgary on May 27, 2014 after almost 6 years of living with cancer. Dan was raised in North Vancouver, and attended Carson Graham Secondary School. He attended the University of Victoria where he graduated from the faculty of Earth and Ocean Science. It was here that he met the love of his life, Penny Gray. They both relocated to Calgary to seek out careers in the petroleum industry. Dan later received a P. Geol. from APEGGA. In addition to Penny, he leaves behind Carly 8, Andrew 6 and Bradley 15 months; his parents, Nicky and Bruce of North Saanich BC, brother Matt of North Vancouver; and Andy (Nicky) of Auckland, NZ; his parents-in-law, Sandra and Jim Gray of Calgary, brothers-in-law James (Gill) and Rod (Sue), nephews Jamie and Harry, niece Emileigh, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dan had a keen interest in many sports, including soccer, baseball, rugby and ultimate frisbee. During his life with cancer, he kept an on-line blog that documented and described his diagnosis and endless treatments. He describes in incredible detail, with realism and humour his psychological highs and lows. In between his never ending treatments he was incredibly busy giving his children as much shared worldly experience as possible in the limited time that he knew was available This included endless camping trips, summers on the west coast, skiing, trips to New Zealand (his mother's home), Disneyland, and Mexico. In recent years he developed a love and interest for photography; he had a keen eye for the artistic merit of scenes and subjects, and placed a collection of his photos on a series of calendars that are truly keepsakes. A celebration of Dan's life will be held at Eden Brook Funeral Home (24223 Township Road 242) on Saturday, June 14 at 4:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Our sincere condolences to you and your family in your recent loss of Dan. From all accounts, Dan managed to accomplish so much in his shortened life time .......a cherished son, brother, husband and father, a respected professional, a sports enthusiast, a valued friend and an upright citizen. So much life to live, so little time yet he succeeded in so many ways.

We are extremely saddened by your loss of such an amazing husband, father and friend. Taken far too soon, he was truly an example of what it takes to be a genuine person. Hold on to the memories and cherish them with all your heart. He was your sole mate and I believe you will meet again. You have three legacies as a daily reminder of the love and compassion Dan held for you.
