Darlene Ramey Obituary

RAMEY - Darlene Susan (nee Dobson) April 10, 1953 to June 27, 2014 It is with great sadness we announce that Darlene died June 27th following a brief stay in the Lions Gate Hospital Palliative Care Ward after a six year struggle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband Charles of 40 years, sons Stephen (Katie) and Scott (Renate), brother Greg (Bimy) Dobson, sister Anne Gerbrandt and many extended family members; in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; who all miss her. Darlene was a warm, wonderful wife and mother, a positive upbeat person who enjoyed life and enriched the lives of those around her. Aside from a brief stint up North in Prince Rupert and Prince George in her early high school years, she spent her life on the North Shore in North and West Vancouver. She worked many years as a bookkeeper building up a loyal cadre of clients who to her were more additions to her extended family. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, travelling and being outdoors - and never more than in her last years. Our special thanks go out to the nurses and staff at the Lions Gate Chemotherapy and Medical Outpatient Clinic and to Dr. Sasha Smiljanic and Dr. Paul Sugar for their care and support. Family, friends and clients are invited to a celebration of Darlene's life to be held September 22, 2014 at 6 pm at the Pinnacle Hotel at the foot of Lonsdale. 138 Victory Ship Way, North Vancouver, BC, V7L 0A7 http://pinnaclepierhotel.com/ (604) 986-7437 For those who wish to make an in memoriam donation in Darlene's name her choices are; Federation of British Columbia Naturalists - http://www.bcnature.ca Paul Sugar Palliative Support Foundation - http://www.paulsugarfoundation.com/in-memory-of.html Lions Gate Hospital Foundation - http://www.lghfoundation.com/ To sign the book of condolences please visit www.mckenziefuneralservices.com

Dear Charles, sons, and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Darlene's passing. She was a wonderful, kind, and caring human being. Devoted to her family, friends, and clients. I say this on behalf of my father (Charles) who worked with her for many years before his passing in 2002 and then myself (from 2002-2006). I will always be grateful to her, but treasure her wonderful spirit and sense of humour always.
With sincerest condolences,
Janice (Widman) Matautia
