David Stuart Clarke

September 26, 1937 - April 03, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, David Stuart Clarke, on April 3, 2025.

Dave was the eldest of four children born to Stuart and Mary Clarke (deceased). He was a true Vancouverite, growing up in Dunbar and graduating from Lord Byng Secondary. Shortly after graduation, Dave found work in the insurance industry, where he would spend his entire career, retiring in 1997 at age 60 as the senior vice-president of AXA Insurance. Dad was a collector of people and touched many lives in his 87 years, with friendships from all walks of his life. He was a natural coach who volunteered his time and energy to many teams over the years - soccer, baseball, lacrosse, cubs/scouts, and Fit Fellas, to name a few.

Dad is survived by his wife of (almost) 66 years, Greta, his partner in life and his biggest support. His children Deb (Paul), Brent (Carol) and Sandra (Rusty) are the grateful recipients of his love, wisdom, warmth and wonderful sense of humour. Perhaps his proudest role was that of grandpa/great-grandpa to Kimberly (Michael), Jamie (Norm), Graham, David, Lewis, Meredith, and great-granddaughter Lucy. Whether at Bowen teaching the kids to fish or on the sidelines of a sporting event, play or concert, the 'grumpy goat' was there with love and encouragement. As well as his parents, Dave is predeceased by his brother, Bob, and sister, Polly, and is survived by his sister, Judy Gardiner, sister-in-law Donna Woodman, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Colleen Lawlor for her care and compassion.

He was loved and will be missed beyond measure.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 30, 2 pm, at Boal Chapel in North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
